Schedule An Appointment to view materials held in the Archives, or Special Collections.
Archives appointments must be made at least ten (10) days in advance, so staff has time to locate and pull items for you. These may only occur during normal operating hours/days, subject to rescheduling per Librarian availability and discretion. Email us at library@iliff.edu if you need to cancel an appointment you have already scheduled.
Reading Room Policy
Visitors must wash their hands with soap and water and dry thoroughly before handling materials.
- Gloves are required for select items, however for paper/books, clean hands are safer for the pages, washing removes the oils that can be harmful. It will be mandatory to wash your hands with soap and dry thoroughly to handle such materials.
- Masks are encouraged, both for preservation of materials and due to the dusty nature of these rooms and materials.
Librarians are the only ones to enter the Archives or Spec.Col. rooms, materials will be brought to the Reading Room for guest viewing.
- A Librarian will retrieve the requested items from the Archives or Special Collections rooms, and bring them to the Reading Room for your appointment.
- Librarians will stay with you or nearby to ensure proper care, handling & return of materials.
Laptops, tablets, handheld devices, and pencil/paper are permitted for taking notes. You may not mark (or use sticky notes, etc.) on any archival materials and objects.
Photos may be taken, only without use of flash (the exposure to intense light can damage materials).
Food, drink, gum, etc. are not allowed in the reading room/around materials. You may be assigned a nearby study carrel to keep such belongings during the use of the Reading Room.
Materials do not circulate or leave the library. We reserve the right to inspect bags or other belongings upon leaving the library.
Theft, destruction, or mutilation of the materials is a crime, and may result in banning from the library, or premises
